The Labrador retriever is a great dog that is full of intelligence. They are also popular in the United States and make great family dogs. You will find a Labrador retriever in homes anywhere from Florida to Michigan, Hawaii to Temecula. Your new Labrador retriever may be yellow, chocolate or black and they are really cute pets, but they are full of energy and they will need training right away.
The Labrador puppies will need some commandments. The commandments for the puppy should be given to the human in order to care for them. Please see below for the commandments from your puppy to you:
- You need to take me (the puppy) for walks at least three times a day and maybe more.
- You should let me (the puppy) sleep in your bed each night.

We all know allowing the puppy to sleep in your bed each night can be a poor lesson and will be no good if you do not want them to sleep in your bed when they are older.
Here is a list of commandments that you should stick to from the Human Standpoint for the Labrador retriever:
- As long as the puppy lives under your roof – you are the pack leader and the puppy should do as you say. When you tell the puppy to come to you, they should come to you. When you tell the puppy to sit, they should sit. Remember, you are the boss.
- The Labrador retriever should always tell you when they need to go outside in order to go to the bathroom.
- The puppy has their own bed; they should learn to sleep in it – not in your bed, not in the children’s bed and not in the cat’s bed.
- The Labrador retriever in the household will be given good food everyday that is nourishing. That good food is not going to be supplemented by chewing on the furniture, shoes or any of the other belongings.
- There will be no begging at the table and no laying their head on your knee waiting for some food from your plate.
- The Labrador retriever will learn to behave properly.
